Greater Orlando Actors Theatre Announces Weekly Cabaret/Open-Mic Nights

Orlando, Florida, November 17, 2008 - Greater Orlando Actors Theatre (GOAT) will host their first Open Mic/Cabaret this Saturday November 22 at 9pm. In an effort to give local entertainers a place to show off their talents GOAT has decided to make this a weekly event at their venue at 1013 E Colonial Dr. Orlando. During performances of Godspell, which opens December 5 and runs through December 20, the Open Mic/Cabaret will begin after the show and will be included in the ticket price.

The first part of the evening will consist of an Open Mic where local musicians, singers, dancers and comediennes with rehearsed acts can perform. The Cabaret begins at 10pm and will feature a house pianist who will play sheet music provided by anyone who is interested in singing. Food and drink will be available to purchase. "This is a great opportunity for local artists to get some exposure," says board member Leesa Halstead, Event Organizer. "We have a great deal of talent in Orlando and many people do not have an opportunity to see them because they have no venue. As an all inclusive theatre company we felt the need to give local artists a place to play, be seen and be heard."

Tickets for the event are $5.00 at the door. For more information call 407-872-8451 or please visit www.goatgroup.com or www.myspace.com/goatgroup.
